Former Site of the Fengtian Office of the South Manchuria Railway Company

The former site of the Fengtian Office of the South Manchuria Railway Company is a cultural heritage site protected by Shenyang City.

The former site of the Fengtian Office of the South Manchuria Railway Company is located at No. 131 Chaoyang Street, Shenhe District. It was a branch office established by the Japanese South Manchuria Railway Company in Fengtian. In 1909, the South Manchuria Railway Company constructed the Fengtian Office on the former site of the Taoist temple Jingyou Palace. In 1923, the Japanese rebuilt this building on the same site, completing it the following year. The building features a traditional Chinese courtyard layout in its plan, incorporating traditional Chinese structural techniques and design elements within modern construction methods. Publicly presented as a lodging and office facility of the "Manchuria Railway" in the old city area, it was actually a special agency tasked with triple roles of political, economic, and cultural aggression.
