China Climbing Club League National Qualifiers Launched
——2017 Climbing Competition Festival
Climbing, as an emerging trend sport that combines "adventure, courage, entertainment, competition, and leisure", and integrates "bravery, beauty, and intelligence", is known as the "ballet on the rock wall". In August 2016, competitive climbing was officially approved by the International Olympic Committee as a medal event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This year's 13th National Games will also feature eight individual gold medals in climbing events.
To accelerate the development of climbing in China, enhance its competitiveness and influence, and actively prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the first and highest-level "China Climbing Club League", hosted by the Chinese Mountaineering Association and exclusively operated by Shizhi Sports, adopted a six-month-long qualifier + finals competition model in 2016. Nearly 50 climbing gyms across the country hosted the events, with over 1,400 athletes participating. The finals, held in the Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe District), Xinjiang, saw 37 teams and 111 athletes from across the country competing. The three-day event attracted a total audience of over 2,100 people.
