Yanzhou City

　Originally known as Baiyan City, Yanzhou City was built by the Goguryeo people in the early fifth century. The site is located on Shicheng Mountain, east of Chengmenkou Village, 30 kilometers east of Liaoyang City. The entire city is built along the mountain’s contours, winding and majestic in appearance. The southern side features steep cliffs, below which flows the Taizi River from east to west.

The western, northern, and eastern sides of Yanzhou City are relatively flat and fortified with stone walls, stretching a total length of 2,500 meters. The walls are between 5 and 8 meters high and constructed from large stone blocks. Every 40 meters, there is a protruding square "battlement." At the highest point within the city stands a command platform approximately 5 meters tall. Surrounding this is an inner citadel measuring 45 meters in length and 35 meters in width, which also includes a water storage pool. The city gate is located on the western side, leading directly to Chengmenkou Village.

Yanzhou City is the only well-preserved ancient Goguryeo fortress in the province and is now listed as a provincial-level key cultural relics protection unit.
