Ruins of Hui Zhou City

The ruins of Hui Zhou City are a cultural tourism attraction.

The ruins of Hui Zhou City are located in Bajia Village, Jianping Town, central Jianping. The site is surrounded by mountains on all sides, with the Beng River, a tributary of the Lao Ha River, to the east. The city site is rectangular, measuring 638 meters from east to west and 592 meters from north to south. The city walls currently stand 2–4 meters high, with a base width of 12 meters. Corner towers were built at each of the four corners of the city (the northeast corner tower was washed away by water), and the southeast corner tower is relatively well-preserved today, standing 6 meters high with a base diameter of 15 meters.

The exposed relics at Hui Zhou City are quite distinct, and the unearthed artifacts are also very rich. In addition to bricks, tiles, and fragments of pottery and porcelain used for construction and daily utensils, the site has also yielded gold and silver items, ironware, exquisitely crafted ceramics, as well as cultural relics such as chess and Go pieces. These provide valuable historical materials for the study of the establishment, development, and decline of ancient Hui Zhou.
