Hongshi Mountain Ecotourism Area is a national AAA-level scenic spot, located in Dahebei Town, Lingyuan City. It features highlights such as pristine forest landscapes and unique stone forest formations.

The scenery of Hongshi Mountain is breathtaking. Experts have lauded the area as the “gene bank of pristine forest vegetation in western Liaoning,” home to the largest catalpa forest in Northeast China—thus earning the praises “Jade of the North” and “Green Pearl of Western Liaoning.” The area is characterized by the beauty of spring blossoms, summer greenery, autumn brilliance, and winter charm, showcasing distinct seasonal changes throughout the year. It serves as a natural oxygen bar gifted by nature, where the climate varies by season but remains pleasantly mild.

The main peak of Hongshi Mountain stands at an elevation of 1,256.6 meters, making it the highest peak in western Liaoning. Nature’s masterful craftsmanship has created the spectacular stone forest wonders here. The mountain rocks are blood-red, fiery in hue, and the area abounds with uniquely shaped peaks and rocks resembling human figures or objects. Attractions such as Prime Minister Stone, Russian Soldier, Laojun the Stoker, Erlang God in Meditation, Herbalist Elder, Heavenly Dog, and the Arch of Triumph are strikingly lifelike.

The site also contains ruins from the Hongshan Culture, where numerous stone tools and pottery shards have been unearthed, offering a glimpse into prehistoric civilization on this land. The thousand-year-old Liao Dynasty tomb site with its stone sheep and tigers has endured the passage of time, with the stone carvings still remarkably vivid. Influenced by ancient civilizations and long inhabited by Han, Manchu, Mongolian, and Korean peoples, the area has developed a rich ethnic culture. In remote rural farmsteads, the aroma of traditional delicacies fills the air. Reform and opening-up policies, relocation initiatives, and new rural development have added new poetic charm to this verdant land.
