The 6th Jiyuan Wangwushan International Tourism Mountaineering Festival, jointly organized by the People’s Government of Jiyuan City and Henan Investment Group, was grandly held on April 21 at the Wangwushan Scenic Area in Jiyuan City.
Zhang Fengyou, Deputy Director of the Henan Provincial Tourism Administration; Mei Baoju, Deputy Director of the Henan Provincial Sports Bureau; Zhu Lianchang, General Manager of Henan Investment Group; Wang Yuyan, Deputy Secretary and Acting Mayor of Jiyuan Municipal Party Committee; along with representatives from tourism bureaus of various cities in the Central Plains Economic Zone, over 20 travel agencies from surrounding areas, and more than 20 media outlets, participated in the opening ceremony.
More than 2,000 mountaineering enthusiasts from six countries including the United States, Japan, South Korea, India, the Philippines, and Kenya, as well as from domestic regions such as Chongqing, Shandong, Liaoning, Jiangsu, and Shanxi, gathered at Wangwushan. Starting from Wangwushanzhuang, they passed through Ginkgo Tree and TianTan Divine Path to reach the summit of TianTan, retracing the ancient route Emperor Huangdi once took to worship heaven on foot. At the peak of TianTan, they not only enjoyed the stunning natural scenery of Wangwushan but also immersed themselves in the area’s profound historical and cultural heritage. They also experienced the spirit of Yu Gong Moving Mountains — bold thinking, perseverance, determination, and unity.
After fierce competition, Guo Tao from Qingdao won first place in the men’s youth group with a time of just 39 minutes and 42 seconds. Yu Wenli from Chongqing, Wu Xue from Zhengzhou, and Zhang Qian from Benxi, Liaoning, claimed first places in the men’s middle-aged group, women’s youth group, and women’s middle-aged group, respectively.
It is reported that the Wangwushan Mountaineering Festival has been successfully held for five consecutive editions up to now.
