The Lingyuan Earth Mother Temple is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism site.

The Earth Mother Temple scenic area is situated in the northwest suburbs of Lingyuan City, at the convergence of Liaoning, Hebei, and Inner Mongolia provinces and three counties. It is a strategic area where one step crosses three provinces and one foot stands on two counties. The main scenic zones include the Earth Mother Temple, Wanglangou Forest Farm, the Northeast Small Grain Market, and new rural development initiatives. The area borders the Inner Mongolian grasslands to the north, the Liaohe River Source Scenic Area in Hebei to the west, faces the urban district to the east, connects to the Sicheng Expressway to the south, and forms a regional tourism system together with other nearby attractions such as Lingyuan’s Wanxiang Temple, Reshuitang, Niuheliang, and Jinhua Mountain.

The Earth Mother Temple scenic area is part of the medium-to-low mountainous and hilly system that extends southward from Jiulou Mountain in the northwestern parallel ridge and valley fold zone of western Liaoning. In terms of geological structure, it belongs to the northeastern folded brush-like mountain range, with Jurassic sandstone formations and a zonal mountainous landform. The front features gently flowing rivers, while the middle and rear sections consist of steep and rugged mountains, with the tail of the range drooping low. The mountain range meanders like a giant dragon soaring through the land, and small mountain springs trickle through the valleys. Wanglangou Mountain, designated as a state-owned local forest park, enjoys distinct seasons, with an average annual temperature of 14°C and average annual precipitation of 50 mm. There is a significant temperature difference between the hot summer months and the urban city center. Prevailing winds are from the east, south, and north. The air quality is Class I, with high concentrations of negative oxygen ions, making it a “natural oxygen bar and summer retreat.” The entire area of Wanglangou Mountain retains a high level of biodiversity, originally hosting dozens of plant species and over a hundred types of birds, mammals, insects, and fish. These elements combine to create a natural ecological landscape centered around Wanglangou Mountain, the temple, and the sea of pine trees. The scenic area boasts a high forest coverage rate, featuring mixed coniferous and broadleaf forests, apricot tree groves, and locust tree woods, forming a uniquely serene and beautiful pine forest spectacle.
