Xianhu Botanical Garden is located in the eastern suburbs of Shenzhen. The garden is divided into several specialized plant areas, such as the palm zone, cycad zone, bamboo zone, fruit garden, aquatic plant garden, and rare tree garden, featuring over 3,000 plant species, including many precious or rare and endangered plants. Such as “Xian Alsophila,” “Silver Fir,” “Camellia nitidissima,” “Davidia involucrata,” and more, truly making it a fascinating kingdom of plants. Xianhu Botanical Garden is divided into three major scenic areas — the Temple Area, Heaven on Earth, and the Xianhu Lake named after the garden itself.

The rich diversity of plants, beautiful garden landscapes, and the stunning natural beauty of the lake and mountains at Xianhu Botanical Garden have made it a paradise for visitors to reconnect with nature. When touring the botanical garden, visitors invariably take photos under the tree planted by - Comrade. On January 22, 1992, during his inspection of Shenzhen Botanical Garden, the chief architect of China’s reform and opening-up, - Comrade, personally planted a tall-growing banyan. The tall-growing banyan is a subtropical plant from the Moraceae family, Ficus genus, and is a representative tree species of Guangdong Province. It grows quickly, has a large canopy, remains evergreen all year round, and is widely loved. The tall-growing banyan planted by - Comrade on the open lawn by Xianhu Lake has now grown deep roots and lush foliage, adding infinite charm to Shenzhen and becoming the pride and symbol of Xianhu Botanical Garden. The garden currently houses 12 specialized plant areas, including the palm plant area, cycad (iron tree) area, bamboo area, aquatic plant area, shade-loving plant area, gymnosperm area, rare and endangered plant area, desert plant area, potted plant area, spore plant area, fruit garden, and medicinal plant area, preserving over 3,000 plant species. It forms a scenic botanical garden that combines natural landscapes with garden artistry, and integrates plant diversity with scientific significance. Plant diversity is the soul of the botanical garden. Shenzhen Xianhu Botanical Garden has collected over 600 species of various cacti and succulents, most of which are native to the Americas and Africa. Due to their unique shapes, rich colors, and high ornamental value, they are increasingly appreciated by people.

Since 1993, Xianhu Botanical Garden has been developing a desert plant area covering over 10,000 square meters. It consists of three exhibition greenhouses — the Americas Pavilion, Asia Pavilion, and Africa Pavilion — with a total area of more than 2,200 square meters, along with simulated sand dunes in between. In the Temple Area, there is the largest temple in Lingnan — - Temple. The Xianhu area mainly consists of the palm zone and various scenic spots around Xianhu Lake. Surrounded by lush green trees, the emerald-green grassy field lies quietly, connecting with the crystal-clear lake nearby, exuding a serene and peaceful atmosphere, like a fairyland on earth. The Heaven on Earth area features a variety of plants and flowers, as well as intriguing attractions such as the botanical Bagua maze and the “Hidden Paradise.”
