Looking out from the Tainan salt fields, small mounds of salt reflect the glow of the setting sun, creating a scene like a white snowscape. Professional photographers say the entire dike at Beimen Salt Fields is perfect for photos, but the best shooting spot is right at the entrance to the salt fields, as the sunset will appear directly ahead. As the sun gradually sets, the reflections of the salt mounds become more pronounced, making for incredibly beautiful photos. Since there isn’t a stark contrast between the sky and the ground, photographers say even smartphone users can take decent photos as long as they hold their devices steady.

Another excellent spot for sunset photography is the Sicao Bridge in Anping, where the sun will set on the right half of the bridge. Standing on the dike, with Sicao Bridge to your left, this is a photographer’s hidden gem—where you can capture the bridge above and below, along with the entire seascape.
