Shenzhen Archives

The Shenzhen Archives serves as a patriotic education base.

The Shenzhen Archives is a national comprehensive archives in Shenzhen. The earliest archival materials in its collection date back to the fifth year of the Tongzhi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1866), while the most recent materials are from 2009, spanning a total of 143 years. The majority of the archives were created after the establishment of Shenzhen and the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. These archives reflect the historical overview of Shenzhen before it became a city, and document the work experiences of the municipal Party committee, government, enterprises, and institutions after the city’s establishment, as well as the development processes in politics, economy, culture, science and education, industry, transportation, and other fields.

Through active efforts in archival acquisition and collection, the Shenzhen Archives has initially established a collection structure that is primarily composed of social management archives, supplemented by various types and formats such as scientific and technological archives, notarized archives, marriage archives, government investment project evaluation archives, approval records of foreign-invested enterprises, honor archives, calligraphy and painting art archives, celebrity archives, audiovisual archives, and microfilm archives. The archives collection contains approximately 200,000 volumes (or items).
