The maple leaves are turning red! Two famous maple-viewing spots have transformed into rainbow-hued forests.

The maple leaves are not only an iconic beauty of autumn but can also be spotted in spring. In Taipei’s Yangmingshan area, there are two springtime maple-viewing spots: Taipei Aowanda and Fuguiyuan Leisure Farm. Due to the different varieties of maple trees, the timing of their vibrant red foliage differs from that of typical autumn foliage, allowing visitors to stroll through the maple woods in the warmth of spring blossoms.

Taipei Aowanda is a renowned maple-viewing destination in northern Taiwan. Covering an area of 3,000 pyeong, it is famous for its European-style garden landscaping and maple tree forests. In addition to the autumn foliage season from November to December each year, the beautiful sight of maple leaves turning red can also be enjoyed from late March to May.

Also located near Taipei Aowanda is Fuguiyuan Leisure Farm, which preserves the original natural ecology and boasts a rich environment of flora and fauna. In summer, the lush green trees provide ample shade, making it a great spot for visitors to enjoy the stream and escape the heat. Each spring, visitors can also admire the beauty of spring maple leaves, where dense maple trees form a stunning red leaf tunnel — truly romantic.

The maple-viewing period lasts until early May. Visitors who wish to enjoy the floral sights should hurry over. They can also take a side trip to Zhuzihu in Yangmingshan to admire the beautiful calla lilies and take Instagram-worthy photos.
