St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Shenzhen

St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Shenzhen, located at No. 65 Nonglin Road, Futian District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, is a Catholic church.

St. Anthony's Church was founded in April 1998 and completed in December 2001. It is the first newly built Catholic church in Shenzhen after the reform and opening-up. The church covers an area of 3,944.80 square meters. The main façade of the church resembles both a “bell” and a “ship,” which is said to symbolize the spirit of a warning bell and solidarity in a boat. By 2010, there were approximately 30,000 Catholics in Shenzhen (including several thousand expatriate and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan parishioners), served by five priests managing nine parishes and Mass sites. St. Anthony's Church is an international parish, offering English Mass every Sunday and adding readings in French, German, Italian, and other languages on special holidays. Around 2010, a large LED electronic screen was installed on the church’s exterior wall, and four projectors along with six large TVs were set up inside the hall. Since its establishment, priests appointed from the Beijing Diocese have served as successive pastors of St. Anthony's Church. By 2010, the Shenzhen Catholic Patriotic Association had organized 45 volunteer activity teams (including overseas individuals) to engage in activities such as scripture study, beach clean-ups, visits to leprosy patients and elderly people living alone, as well as group outings and sports events. The church also offers free foreign language training courses. In addition, the Shenzhen Catholic Patriotic Association frequently organizes voluntary blood donation activities.

The design of Shenzhen St. Anthony's Church fully reflects the Catholic character of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and has a strong contemporary feel. The construction of the church also embodies the dedication of numerous clergy and parishioners.

St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Shenzhen is also an international parish, offering English Mass every Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM for foreign Catholics residing in, traveling to, working, or studying in Shenzhen, and including scripture readings in French, Italian, German, and other languages on special holidays.
