Baguang Village is located in Kuiyong, Longgang District, Shenzhen. It is a natural village in the eastern part of Kuiyong Town, Longgang District, situated at the terminus of the Yanba Expressway. It is one of the most beautiful villages in Shenzhen. Baguang Village is a place where time seems to stand still. This largely untouched natural area not only boasts ancient tree groves with trees that are hundreds of years old, but also preserves rare tree species found only in China, Japan, and India. The entire village seems to be enveloped in the lush green shade of camphor trees. Just a few hundred meters away from the forested areas of Baguang, you can see a 13-kilometer stretch of coastline with an abundance of large seashells. If you can get a wooden boat out to the open sea and catch a fish to grill on the shore, the natural, wild charm is something you’ll never find in the city.

Originally named Bagang Village, Baguang got its current name due to the similarity in pronunciation between “gang” (岗) and “guang” (光) in the local Hakka dialect, and over time, Bagang came to be called Baguang. The village is home to Hakka people of various surnames, making it a true Hakka village. Over 300 years ago, the ancestors of the villagers migrated here from Zijin, Heyuan, in eastern Guangdong to settle and start families, eventually forming 18 hamlets. They made a living primarily through farming, supplemented by fishing and salt production, and built a beautiful homeland.

The village is tranquil, with banana groves, shrubs, silverleaf trees, and verdant grassy tidal flats complementing the distant blue coastline. In the Yanzao Natural Village, a yellow ox grazing on the tidal flat lives peacefully alongside a heron, and the occasional bark of a dog breaks the quiet of the village.

Backed by mountains and facing the sea, Baguang Village boasts beautiful scenery and has retained its relatively pristine landforms. Although over a hundred old houses are now empty, they remain well-preserved. Behind these houses lie rolling mountains, dense forests, and a long coastline. Most remarkably, there is a coastal grove of silverleaf trees—a rare mangrove species found only in Japan, India, and China. This grove consists of more than 300 silverleaf trees of various shapes and sizes, the oldest of which is over 500 years old.

As Baguang remains largely undeveloped, its ecological environment is exceptionally well-preserved, featuring vast mangrove forests, flocks of egrets, nearby volcanic rock islands, and beaches—making it a perfect weekend getaway for Shenzhen residents. With the development of tourism, it has become an ideal spot for urbanites to unwind. Listen to birds singing in the morning, go fishing out at sea at noon, enjoy freshly caught seafood by the sound of the waves in the evening, and fall asleep with the sea breeze at night. Baguang Village gives off a “Shangri-La” vibe. Transportation: By bus: Take bus 360 or 364 in the city to Kuiyong Town, then transfer to bus 987 (five services per day) directly to Baguang Village. Alternatively, take a motorcycle or taxi to Baguang for a round trip at 40 RMB per person.

By car: From Shenzhen – Yantian – Kuiyong – Jinye Road – Kuibei Road – Jingxin Reservoir – Baguang, approximately 60 km. Due to some mountainous sections, the one-way trip takes about 120 minutes. Please note that the entrance to Kuibei Road from Kuiyong is not very obvious; be sure to watch for road signs or check a map in advance.

Kuiyong Subdistrict: Kuiyong Town is located in the eastern part of Longgang District, south of the Tropic of Cancer, at 114°24′ east longitude and 22°38′ north latitude. It lies at the northern tip of Dapeng Peninsula, bordering Daya Bay to the east, Yantian District to the west, Dapeng Bay and Dapeng Town to the south (facing Hong Kong’s Kowloon Peninsula across the sea), and Pingshan Town and Huizhou City to the north. The town covers a total area of 103.9 square kilometers, featuring a long, narrow strip of landform nestled between mountains and the sea, dominated by hills and mountains, and part of a limestone region.
