Dafen Oil Painting Village is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Dafen Oil Painting Village is a villager group under the jurisdiction of the Buji Village Committee in Buji Town, Longgang District, Shenzhen. Due to the initial scale of development in the oil painting industry, "Dafen Oil Painting Village" has gained considerable recognition both domestically and internationally. In November 2004, Dafen Oil Painting Village was designated as a "Cultural Industry Demonstration Base" by the Ministry of Culture of China.

Before the reform and opening-up, villagers relied solely on farming for their livelihoods, with an average annual income of less than 200 yuan. In 1989, Hong Kong art dealer Huang Jiang came to Dafen, renting local houses to collect and resell oil paintings. He also recruited students to help fulfill orders from foreign clients, thereby introducing the specialized industry of oil painting to Dafen. The production, procurement, and centralized export system for oil paintings formed by Huang Jiang and his students laid the foundation for what would become "Dafen Oil Painting Village." As more painters and artisans settled in Dafen, apart from Huang Jiang, two other larger-scale art dealers specializing in the procurement and export of oil paintings emerged. Each dealer gathered a group of artisans who supplied them exclusively. Over the years, the scale of "Dafen Oil Painting Village" expanded year by year, and its reputation grew accordingly, eventually forming today’s Dafen Oil Painting Village.

Buji Subdistrict: The Buji Subdistrict Office of Longgang District, Shenzhen, was established on August 26, 2004, when the area transitioned from rural to urban governance through the "town-to-subdistrict" conversion, transforming the former Buji Town into Buji Subdistrict Office.
