The former site of the headquarters of the Dongjiang Column in Tuyang Village is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, a classic red tourism attraction, and a patriotic education base.

The former site of the headquarters of the Dongjiang Column in Tuyang Village is located in Tuyang Village, Kuichong Town, Longgang District, Shenzhen. It is a two-story brick-and-wood building that was constructed in 1912 as an Italian Catholic church. The structure features an Italian architectural style in both its exterior and decorations, consisting of one main hall and one wing room. There is a balcony on the upper floor. The building stands 9.8 meters tall, is 11.4 meters wide, and extends 7.75 meters deep. The eastern side houses the chapel, which has a brick-and-wood structure with steel beams.

In December 1943, after the establishment of the Dongjiang Column of the Guangdong People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Forces, this site became the headquarters of the Dongjiang Column and the temporary location of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China. The main building of the church served as the living quarters for the priest, while the conference room was set up in the main hall. The upper floor accommodated the headquarters members Zeng Sheng, Yin Linping, and Wang Zuoyao. Two additional small single-story houses, built with brick, wood, and steel beams, were constructed to the west of the main building and used as a stable and telegraph office. Behind the building lies a small flat area that served as a training ground at the time. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the local government built a memorial pavilion for the Dongjiang Column here. From July to August 1944, the famous Tuyang Conference (a joint meeting of the Provincial Standing Committee and the Military-Political Committee) was held at this site. The former site is now well preserved.

In 1984, the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government designated it as a cultural relics protection unit. On July 17, 2002, it was included in the fourth batch of Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the site was once used as the campus of Tuyang Primary School. In September 1984, it was listed as a cultural relics protection unit of Shenzhen; in April 1995, it was designated as a “Shenzhen Patriotic Education Base”; in 1997, the former headquarters of the Dongjiang Column was restored and the Dongjiang Column Historical Exhibition Hall was established; in 1998, the former headquarters and the exhibition hall were officially opened to the public; in July 2002, it was included in the “Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units” by the Guangdong Provincial People’s Government; in 2004, the site was reopened after reinforcement, renovation, and the upgrading of its exhibition halls.

Tuyang Community: Tuyang Community is located in Kuichong Subdistrict, Dapeng New Area, Shenzhen, nestled between Dapeng Bay and Daya Bay on the Dapeng Peninsula. It is 30 kilometers from downtown Shenzhen, covering a total area of 2.9 square kilometers with a population of 7,347, including 847 registered residents and 6,500 migrant residents. The community administers one administrative village, Tuyang Village, and one resident group, Shayuyong Resident Group. Shayuyong is currently undergoing the renovation and development of its ancient village, which is the first project among 23 ancient villages planned for preservation and utilization by Dapeng New Area.
