Guanyin Mountain Wangshan Temple is located 8 kilometers northwest of Fogang County and is one of the eight famous mountains in Guangdong. With an elevation of 1,288 meters, it is the highest peak in central Guangdong.

Guanyin Mountain Wangshan Temple is shrouded in clouds and mist all year round. In the morning, a bell rings to calm the mind; in the evening, a drum beats to nurture the spirit. The surrounding mountains wind gracefully, and the streams flow quietly. The mountain is home to countless rugged rocks, forming a sacred and mystical landscape — a rare blessed place in Buddhism. There are numerous scenic spots on the mountain, the most famous being the Waterfall Group, Dragon Palace, Dragon Bed, Bogong Tree, Spiritual Water Lake, Immortals' Platform, and the Jade Emperor’s Imperial Seal. The millennium-old ancient trees growing in the high mountains and dense forests, such as the Three-Finger Sweet Tree King, Dandanteng Vine, and Niunaimu Tree King, are all rare and precious wonders. Countless southern-style red maples also dot the area. The mountain is home to 238 animal species and 1,142 plant species, including more than 20 types of nationally endangered animals such as clouded leopards and pythons, and over 20 types of nationally endangered plants such as tree ferns and ornamental woods. It is one of the largest natural subtropical biological gene banks in China and also one of the regions in South China with the highest concentration of negative ions.
