On June 22 at the 37th UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, Japan’s Mount Fuji was officially approved for inclusion on the World Cultural Heritage list. The previously excluded “Mihono-Suga no Sato Pine Grove” also successfully passed the review. Half of Mount Fuji lies within Shizuoka Prefecture. To celebrate its inclusion as a World Heritage Site, the Taiwan Office of the “Fuji no Kuni Shizuoka Prefecture” in Japan has launched a campaign giving away gifts from Shizuoka. Half of Mount Fuji is located within Shizuoka Prefecture. To celebrate its inscription as a World Heritage Site, there are various Mount Fuji experience activities available across the prefecture. There are three main climbing routes in Shizuoka (Fujinomiya, Gotemba, and Subashiri), each offering unique characteristics. Paragliding experiences on Asagiri Plateau allow you to view Mount Fuji from high above. Other activities include cave exploration in Mount Fuji caves and witnessing the spectacular sunrise over Mount Fuji at Lake Tanuki.

On the 22nd, Shizuoka Governor Hideaki Kawakatsu expressed great joy over the official inscription of “Mount Fuji” as a World Heritage Site. This success represents global recognition of Japan’s unique cultural and natural perspectives. For Japan, it holds great significance and is the best possible gift. Moving forward, we aim to manage Mount Fuji as a “common heritage of humanity” in a sustainable way.
