Situated by the scenic Wengjiang River, the Tu Zhiwei Art Museum was constructed with an investment exceeding 60 million RMB over the course of six years. With a total construction area of over 18,000 square meters, it is mainly dedicated to collecting and exhibiting Tu Zhiwei’s artworks. It functions as a non-profit cultural and artistic organization and will remain open to the public indefinitely. The museum displays and houses over 400 representative works by Tu Zhiwei.

The completion of the Tu Zhiwei Art Museum has become a new landmark for Wengyuan, following other local attractions such as Sanhua plum, Jiuxian peach, Donghua Temple, the orchid base, and Lengquantan. After six years of construction, it will serve as a brand-new cultural icon in Wengyuan.

Tu Zhiwei is known for creating realistic oil paintings based on historical events in China. His notable works include the “Seven-Step Poem Collection,” “Tree and Bird’s Nest,” “Drunken Beauty,” and “Reversed Pipa.” The museum’s exhibition space spans three floors, showcasing over 400 pieces from various periods of Tu Zhiwei’s career. Among them, his massive oil painting “Heartbeat,” completed in September 2013, captivated visitors, many of whom stopped to admire it and take photos in front of the artwork.

Tu Zhiwei has led several groups of American oil painters on sketching trips to Wengyuan. He stated that building the art museum in his hometown was aimed at attracting more American artists to Wengyuan, introducing the region’s beautiful landscapes and unique Hakka residential culture and folk traditions to the people of the United States through their brushstrokes, thereby building a bridge for cultural exchange between the two nations. The Tu Zhiwei Art Museum will become a public cultural institution integrating creation, collection, exhibitions, and training.

Longxian Town: As the county seat of Wengyuan, Longxian Town is the political, economic, and cultural center of the entire county.
