Guanyin Mountain Scenic Area

Guanyin Mountain was formed by crustal movement and compression, and due to its peculiar shape, it is called "Strange Mountain" by locals. Its actual name is Hunidkhan Ula in Mongolian, meaning "the highest mountain in the valley." The Strange Mountain range stretches approximately 2,000 meters in length and has an elevation of 1,199.3 meters. Among its features, the "Strange Rocks" are the most spectacular, covering a surface area of about 100 square meters. Standing on this rock, visitors can clearly see the entire panorama of Holingol City. The Guanyin Mountain Scenic Area spans 17,000 acres and is located 15 kilometers from the city center. In spring, flowers bloom everywhere and birds sing in chorus; in summer, the area is shaded by green trees and boasts beautiful mountains and clear waters; in autumn, maple leaves blaze like fire, strikingly vibrant; in winter, the land is covered in snow, presenting a silvery-white splendor. The natural scenery is unique, offering the unforgettable charm of the northern frontier. It allows visitors to truly experience the ancient scene described as “The sky is vast, the wilderness boundless; when the wind blows the grass low, cattle and sheep appear.” The project has received an investment of 23 million yuan, with 8.75 million yuan already invested in the first phase, mainly used for constructing the Habqil Reservoir and facilities such as Mongolian yurts. The second and third phases will expand the reservoir, build a series of supporting accommodation, catering, and other service facilities, as well as establish orchards, vegetable, and flower bases. Natural resources will be fully utilized to develop ethnic-style guesthouses, yurt villages, and other attractions that offer cultural experiences, cool retreats, and summer escapes. Activities such as horse racing, hunting, fishing, swimming, boating, and summer camps for schoolchildren can be organized. The area currently has the capacity to accommodate 90,000 visitors per year.
