Holin River Open-pit Coal Mine Tourist Scenic Area

As one of the five most renowned open-pit coal mines in China, the Holin River Open-pit Coal Mine is the first modern open-pit coal mine in China and Asia. The coalfield spans 9 kilometers in width and 60 kilometers in length, covering a total area of 540 square kilometers. It has nine extractable coal seams with a combined thickness of 81.7 meters, storing 13.1 billion tons of high-quality lignite—equivalent to nine times that of the Fushun Coal Mine and four times that of the Datong Coal Mine. It has achieved an annual production capacity of 10 million tons. Known as "green fuel," the mine is entering a phase of simultaneous production and expansion with new and expanded projects. In 2005, it planned to produce 16 million tons of coal and sell 15 million tons. Visitors here can also observe the entire process from large-scale mechanical mining, enclosed transportation, automated coal washing, crushing,

washing, loading, and transportation.
