Shangyang Site

The Shangyang Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Lianping County.

The Shangyang Site is located under Jitouyan in Lianguang Village, Potou Town, Lianping County. It dates back to the late Neolithic Age. The site covers an area of approximately 2,000 square meters and was discovered in 1984. The cultural layer is about 1 meter thick. Excavated pottery includes cauldrons, tripods, jars, bean pots, and spinning whorls. The tripod feet feature a rich variety of shapes, with decorative patterns such as cord marks, grid patterns, and twisted patterns. Stone tools include adzes, picks, axes, arrowheads, spades, knives, and spinning whorls. Based on the characteristics of the artifacts, the site is believed to belong to the Shixia Culture.

In 1986, the Lianping County People's Government designated it as a cultural heritage site.

Potou Town: Potou Town is located in the western part of Lianping County, 42 kilometers from the county seat. It borders Wengyuan County to the west, neighbors Xinfeng County to the south, and adjoins Quannan County of Jiangxi Province to the north. The town covers a total area of 315.8 square kilometers, with a population of 32,000 and nearly 28,000 mu of arable land. Potou Town is a karst region characterized by striking peaks and clear flowing waters.
