The former site of the Meidongkou Battle is located at Meidongkou, Tianxi Village, Tianyuan Town, Lianping County.

On March 9, 1948, after Ye Lianming, Ye Shaoxiong, and others led over 100 soldiers and civilians to repel the bandit forces of Xie Yuechen in areas such as Maobu Mountain, they returned that night to Baishihu and Hebei to review the battle experience. At this time, Zheng Dadong, the leader of the Jiangbei People’s Self-Defense Corps, arrived from Banjiang and convened a meeting in the riverside pavilion with military officers, militia members, and key members of the farmers' association. The meeting analyzed the current situation, concluding that the enemy forces stationed in Longjie, Lianping, and Xinfeng would inevitably launch another attack, and called on the soldiers and civilians to make full preparations to counter the next offensive.

As expected, the enemy forces that had been repelled on March 9 organized a second attack on March 11. This time, the enemy mobilized a larger force with greater scale—over 1,300 troops from the security regiments, joint defense teams, and landlord militias of Lianping, Xinfeng, Matou, and Longjie were deployed en masse. At the time, Zheng Dadong, the leader of the Jiangbei People’s Self-Defense Corps, had been ordered on the evening of March 10 to carry out new tasks in Banjiang, Heyuan, and the Ninth Regiment troops were unable to provide timely support or replenish ammunition. As a result, the troops were forced to retreat and hide in Hualuoshan. That morning, the enemy advanced to Meidongkou and organized a group of hooligans to loot local residents’ belongings, but the Tianyuan militia and guerrilla fighters struck back fiercely. Guerrilla members Ye Fangxing and Ye Lejiao led over 20 people to open heavy fire against the enemy. Later, three enemy forces surrounded our soldiers and civilians from all sides and launched an attack with intense firepower. Our forces fought fiercely with the enemy, injuring six of them. At 2:00 p.m., the enemy forcefully broke into houses, burned over 20 civilian residences, and looted the people's belongings. Due to the overwhelming disparity in strength, guerrilla fighters Ye Fangxing and Ye Lejiao heroically sacrificed their lives. Thirteen others, including Ye Bixin, Ye Jiran, and Ye Shihuang, were captured and taken to places like Xinfeng where they were brutally killed.

In May 2011, a monument was erected for protection by the Lianping County Party Committee and County Government.
