The former site of Mary’s Hospital in the Jiulian Guerrilla Zone is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of Mary’s Hospital in the Jiulian Guerrilla Zone is located at the ancestral home of the Wen family in Zuokeng, Hucun, Neiguan Town, Lianping County, approximately 8 kilometers from Jiulian Market. The site consists of one main hall and two living rooms, constructed with a mixture of yellow mud, sandstone, and bamboo strips. Due to years of neglect and weathering, one of the houses has collapsed, and the remaining structures are leaning.

After the armed struggle was resumed in the Jiulian region in 1947, the troop forces continued to grow. Due to frequent battles, the number of wounded and sick soldiers increased steadily. To provide medical treatment for the injured, the Jiulian Working Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (later renamed the Jiulian District Committee of the CCP) decided to establish “Mary’s Hospital” at the ancestral home of the Wen family in Zuokeng. After the hospital was set up, several batches of wounded soldiers were treated there, with the peak number reaching over 20. Most of the wounded were transported from Qingzhou and Reshui in Heping County. Due to a shortage of doctors, local traditional healers were often called upon to treat the soldiers. Yang Riméi, a renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner in the Jiulian area, specialized in treating knife wounds, gunshot wounds, and burns. He frequently risked his life to prepare herbal medicines, powders, and ointments for the wounded. Wen Ashèng, a local progressive youth, also often secretly helped the guerrilla unit procure medicine and was later recognized as a “fortress household” after the liberation. In 1949, “Mary’s Hospital” was renamed Baiyun Hospital under the Guangdong–Jiangxi–Hunan Border Column and subsequently moved with the troops, vacating the site.

In May 2011, the site was designated for protection with a memorial stele erected by the Lianping County Committee and County Government.

Neiguan Town: Located in the northeastern part of Lianping County, Neiguan Town borders Heping County to the east, and adjoins Youxi Town and Gaoguan Town to the south, as well as Yuan Shan Town and Shangping Town to the northwest. It was originally established as the Neiguan People's Commune in 1959, restructured as the Neiguan District in 1983, became a township after the district was abolished in 1987, and was upgraded to a town in 1993. In September 2003, the former Jiulian Town was incorporated into Neiguan Town.
