The former site of the Wuguo Village Peasant Association is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Wuguo Village Peasant Association is located at Luoxingwu (Luoxing House), Wuguo Area, Wuhe Village, Dahhu Town, Lianping County (6 kilometers southeast of Dahhu Market Town).

The peasant movement in Dahhu had seen multiple spontaneous struggles erupt as early as before 1938, and such uprisings continued thereafter. In December 1947, under the guidance of Deng Ji, a member of the Lianhe District Working Committee, the Wuguo Village Peasant Association was established in Dahhu. This association was the first peasant organization formed in the Dahhu area during the Liberation War period. The head of the association was Zeng Yuquan, the Party branch secretary of the village, and the deputy head was Zeng Ruisen, a member of the village Party branch committee.

After the establishment of the Wuguo Village Peasant Association, the Party branch led the peasants in launching a struggle to settle accounts with the landlord Zeng Yanchu. That winter, Lianhe People’s Self-Defense Brigade’s Zeng Wen yuan was ordered to lead troops to surround the area in coordination with local militia, seizing high ground and engaging in combat. Subsequently, the association head Zeng Yuquan and others led over 200 poor peasants to settle accounts with the landlord, reclaiming over 100 dan of rice and more than 10 dan of supplies. Ten days later, the peasant association led the peasants in a second round of settlements, bringing back over 10 dan of valuable goods from the landlord’s home, including gold, silver, and jewelry, all of which were transported to the association. The association used the gains from these struggles to support the troops and distribute resources to poor peasants, while also setting aside a portion to establish a cooperative.

Thereafter, the activities of the Wuguo Village Peasant Association remained highly impactful, especially its coordinated efforts with underground Party members and troops during the “small-scale” armed struggle, which exerted significant influence in the Dahhu region. The establishment of the Wuguo Village Peasant Association became representative of the Dahhu peasant organizations in 1947. After the spring of 1948, peasant associations spread to every village in Dahhu.
