Beitou Wenbi Pagoda

Beitou Wenbi Pagoda is located atop Maofeng Peak in Zixi Village, about three kilometers north of Beitou Town. Built in the late Ming Dynasty and renovated in the 19th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty, the pagoda is a three-story, hexagonal pavilion-style tower standing thirteen meters tall. Its base is made of brick, and the ground floor features arched gateways. This pagoda was erected by the Xie family of Panshiwei in Beitou Town, who believed that their clan members consistently failed to achieve success in the imperial examinations due to feng shui issues. As a result, they pooled funds to construct this pagoda on the summit of “Maofeng Peak,” the mountain opposite their residence.
