Xinfengjiang National Forest Park’s Guishan Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, backed by Heyuan’s highest peak—Guishan Mountain—and facing the largest artificial lake in southern China—Wanlv Lake. Nestled against the mountains and beside the lake, the scenic area boasts exceptionally beautiful natural scenery. It features forest eco-tourism and centers around the leisurely enjoyment of landscapes and waters. The picturesque natural landscape offers visitors a serene sense of returning to nature, making it a joyful world where people can embrace simplicity and experience wild charm.

The trees in Guishan Scenic Area remain green all year round, with flowers blooming and fruits ripening in every season, earning it the reputation of a “kingdom of plants, paradise of animals, and heaven for tourism.” It is home to Guangdong’s largest and one of the world’s rarest well-preserved secondary broadleaf forests along the Tropic of Cancer. The area is filled with fresh air, known as a natural “oxygen bar,” with negative ion levels many times higher than those in cities, making it an “oasis” for urbanites to relax and vacation. At the summit of Guishan Mountain, there is a 3,000-acre wild azalea field that blooms vibrantly every April and May. The scenic area’s orchard features nearly 100 varieties of fruits, allowing visitors to taste a full range of flavors—sour, sweet, bitter, and astringent—throughout the year.

Within the scenic area lies an 18-li (approximately 9 km) stone gorge with a clear stream. The stream is dotted with fantastically shaped rocks and uniquely designed pavilions and towers. Mountain streams cascade down with splashing water, accompanied by the chirping of birds. The mountain is covered with dense forests and ancient towering trees, vibrant with exotic flowers and colorful fruits. Birds and animals display a rich variety of forms. Flowers, fruits, mountains, forests, rocks, streams, vines, and waterfalls form eight major features, creating a fairy-tale “oasis” that captivates and enchants visitors.

Guishan Scenic Area is 8 kilometers away from downtown Heyuan by waterway and can be reached by boat from Xin’an Pier on Wanlv Lake, a 20-kilometer journey. The Guishan Tourist Avenue, which connects to the Guangmei Highway, is only 18 kilometers from Guishan, making travel to and from the scenic area very convenient. The area offers comprehensive tourism service facilities such as restaurants, villas, and swimming pools, ensuring easy access to food and accommodation. Additionally, visitors can take a boat from Guishan to various attractions on Wanlv Lake.
