The Huanglongyan She Ethnic Culture Tourist Area is located in the Gaozhang Mountain Range of Zhangxi She Ethnic Township, Dongyuan County, approximately 59 kilometers from downtown Heyuan. Covering an area of about 20 square kilometers, it consists of Gaozhang Mountain, Shixingdi Reservoir, seven karst caves including Huanglongyan Cave, Ceshenyan Cave, and Yanyan Rock, as well as a She ethnic culture exhibition hall and She ethnic cultural performances. Huanglongyan Cave is 60 meters deep with an interior area of about 3,900 square meters, renowned for its seclusion, depth, wonder, and peril, often referred to as the “Underground Dragon Palace.” The rippling waters of Shixingdi Reservoir and many rare flowers and plants unique to southern China, such as the “sparrow rice flower,” also add splendid scenery to the area. The She ethnic totem exhibition hall and cultural performances within the scenic area offer visitors a chance to experience the distinctive culture and traditions of the She people.
