Hakka Folk Museum

The Hakka Folk Museum is located in Xiantang Town, Dongyuan County, 12 kilometers from the city center. It is established within an ancient "mansion-style" residential building known as Suotou Dujiao Lou. There are over 30 ancient residential buildings in the vicinity of Xiantang Town. The building selected to house the Hakka Folk Museum was constructed in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. The museum exhibits more than 100 production and daily life tools used by the Hakka people across different eras, all accompanied by textual and photographic documentation. Among the displayed items are a stone mill, pestle, Bagua bed, Eight Immortals table, and palm-fiber cages. This Hakka Folk Museum served as the primary filming location for the first ten episodes of the TV series commemorating Hong Kong’s centennial return, and the production launch ceremony was held here.
