Zhaoxi Township Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery

Zhaoxi Township Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is located on a small hill behind the People's Government of Zhaoxi Township, in Zhonglian Village, Zhaoxi Township, Dongyuan County.

The cemetery was built in 1967 and renovated in 2005 to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs from Zhaoxi Township who sacrificed their lives during the War of Resistance Against Japan and the Liberation War. The gateway archway of the cemetery features a central plaque with the engraved bronze characters “Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery” in running script. At the center of the cemetery stands a memorial monument, constructed from hollow concrete bricks, with a rectangular base and a pointed spire, reaching a total height of 7.5 meters. It consists of a base and the main body. The base is made up of four levels of cement steps that narrow upward, while the main body is framed with reinforced concrete borders and built with red bricks, topped with a pointed spire. The front of the main body is inlaid with a grey plaster relief featuring the gilded running script inscription “Eternal Glory to the Revolutionary Martyrs.” Below the inscription, there is also a bluestone plaque with an intaglio carving reading “Monument Inscription for Revolutionary Martyrs.”

The cemetery faces east and is built with brick and stone. It consists of a gateway, an archway, stone steps, a memorial monument, and enclosing walls, measuring 17.2 meters in length and 46.76 meters in width, covering a total area of 804 square meters.
