The Hengkeng Village Negotiation Site is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Hengkeng Village Negotiation Site is located in Banjing, Hengkeng Village, Zengtian Town, Dongyuan County.

In January 1949, after the East River Second Detachment of the Guangdong–Jiangxi–Hunan Border Column defeated the Nationalist Guangdong Provincial Security Regiment No. 13 on Darenling Mountain by the Dongjiang River, the regiment sustained heavy casualties. Under the deterrence of the continuous major victories of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in the Northeast and North China campaigns, Regiment Commander Zeng Tianjie and others gradually recognized the inevitable trend of the nation’s imminent liberation. After our side sent representatives multiple times to persuade Zeng Tianjie, his unit began to consider rebelling. On the third day of the first lunar month in 1949, the two sides held their first negotiation under the old house at Shuikouwei near the Wenbita Tower in Yuhu, Zengtian Township, achieving substantive results. It was agreed that the second negotiation would take place in Qiwu, Banjing, Hengkeng, around early March 1949. Our side was represented by Lin Jingqiu, Political Department Director Huang Zhongqiang of the detachment, along with aides Liu Jian and four guards, while the other side included Liu Mian and Zhang Zengpei from the Security Regiment No. 13 and their four guards. They held a half-day meeting where they thoroughly discussed and aligned on the timing and steps of the rebellion, combat strategic requirements, and issues concerning the regiment after the rebellion.

The site was originally a civilian house facing northwest and situated southeast, but due to years of disrepair, only one side door remains today.
