The Battle Site of the Dareren Ridge is a classic destination for red tourism.

The Battle Site of the Dareren Ridge is located on Dareren Ridge in Qutan Village, Yihuo Town, Dongyuan County, atop a steep and lofty mountain.

In January 1949, the Second Detachment of the Dongjiang Column of the Guangdong–Jiangxi–Hunan Border Guerrilla Unit of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, commanded by Yan Shangmin and Zheng Qun, concentrated over 1,400 troops from more than ten detachments including the Third, Fourth, and Seventh Regiments as well as the River Defense Brigade. They set up an ambush against the Kuomintang’s 13th Security Regiment of Guangdong Province, which was attempting to attack our West River base area in Jiulian. After fierce fighting on Dareren Ridge, they eliminated two companies of the 13th Regiment and defeated one battalion, dealing a heavy blow to the enemy's morale. This victory laid the foundation for the subsequent liberation of counties such as Laolong, Wuhua, Lianping, Zijin, and Xingning. It was the fifth major triumph in the “Five Battles, Five Victories” of the Guangdong People’s Liberation Army Dongjiang–Jiangxi Border Detachment (which was reorganized in January 1949 into the Second Detachment of the Guangdong–Jiangxi–Hunan Border Guerrilla Unit of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army).
