The Battle Site of Hetang Village is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Battle Site of Hetang Village is located in Hetang Village, Huangtian Town, Dongyuan County.

On November 29, 1948, a battalion of the Kuomintang’s Bao 5th Regiment and a platoon from the Xingning Puppet Tax Bureau’s Smuggling Suppression Team under Liao Songyao once again escorted military supplies along the Dong River to Lan Kou and Laolong. In the early morning, when the fleet arrived at Hetang Village, the 3rd and 7th Regiments of the Guangdong People’s Liberation Army’s Yuegan Border Detachment, which had been lying in ambush at the site, were concealed in the pine forest between Wuni and Hetang along the banks of the Dong River. They ambushed the approaching enemy. The battle lasted nearly three hours and ended at 9:30 a.m. The enemy’s 12th Company of the Bao 5th Regiment and one platoon of the tax bureau were completely annihilated, with 35 enemies including Company Commander Huang Jingtian killed, and countless others drowned in the river. The PLA captured one mortar, two machine guns, over twelve rifles, six crates of shells, and more than 3,000 bullets.
