The Site of the Shangwan Boxi Battle is located in Boxi, Shangwan Town, Dongyuan County.

On the morning of August 31, 1947, landlord Chen Likai learned that the Ninth Guerrilla Work Committee was holding a meeting in a farmhouse in Boxi, and instructed his henchman Chen Yaqiu to inform the enemy troops. Immediately, over 500 soldiers from the Fifth and Eighth Security Regiments of the Guangdong Provincial Security Command of the Kuomintang launched a pincer attack on the troops and the Ninth Guerrilla Work Committee headquarters from two directions—Zengtian and Chuantang. At 2 p.m., our frontline sentries spotted the approaching enemy and immediately sounded the alarm. Our Huang Ri Detachment, Iron Tiger Unit, and Flying Tiger Units One and Two confronted the enemy head-on, with Detachment Commander Huang Ri unleashing fierce fire from his light machine gun. Yan Shangmin directed the work committee personnel and troops to fight back while retreating toward Shixing Mountain at Libizhang. After more than three hours of fierce fighting, our forces managed to break contact with the enemy and retreated to higher ground, causing the enemy to hesitate in pursuing further. That night, our work committee and troops withdrew to the safe areas of Yangkeng and Litian. During this battle, Company Commanders Chen Guohan and Chen Yunfang, along with three soldiers, were killed in action. Between September and October, Chen Likai and Chen Yaqiu were later eliminated by our forces.
