Former Site of the Heyuan County People's Government

The former site of the Heyuan County People's Government is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Heyuan County People's Government is located at Changlongwu in Taiyang Village, Shangwan Town, Dongyuan County.

On December 7, 1948, a mass rally attended by over 3,000 people was held at Shangwan Xigang to celebrate the establishment of the Heyuan County People's Government. The county head was Huang Zhongqiang, with Deputy County Head Li Hui (also known as Wu Zhenqian), and departments included Finance, Military Affairs, Civil Affairs, and Education & Propaganda. The government office was located here.

This building was constructed in the second year of the Tongzhi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1863), facing west with its back to the east. It is a Hakka-style square enclosed residence consisting of one entrance gate, two halls, and two wing rooms. The total width is 34.6 meters, the depth 37.8 meters, covering an area of 1,300 square meters. It features a flush gable roof with clay tiles and is built with earth and wood.
