The former site of the expanded meeting of the Ninth Guerrilla Area Committee of the Communist Party of China is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the expanded meeting of the Ninth Guerrilla Area Committee of the Communist Party of China is located at Longjing in Liushi Village (Baizhukeng), Chuantang Town, Dongyuan County.

In June 1948, the Ninth Guerrilla Area Committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting in Baizhukeng, Liushi, Chuantang, on the west bank of the Dong River. Huang Songjian, Liang Weilin, Yan Shangmin, Wei Nanjin, Zhong Junxian, Zheng Qun, Huang Zhongqiang, Wu Yi (Zeng Zhiyun), Zhang Huaji, Luo Weiqiang, Zhuo Yang, and Wu Zhenqian were among those present. The meeting adopted several important resolutions, including “The Current Situation and Our Policy and Tasks,” “Resolution on Unified Leadership, the Establishment of the Prefectural Committee, and the Memorial Department of the Detachment,” “Resolution on the Land Reform Policy,” and “Resolution on the Policy of Proactive Military Struggle Against the Enemy.” During the meeting, the CCP’s Ninth Guerrilla Area Work Committee was reorganized as the CCP’s Ninth Guerrilla Area Committee (shortened to the Ninth Guerrilla Area Prefectural Committee). It was also decided that the armed forces in the Ninth Guerrilla Area would be unified and reorganized into the Guangdong People’s Liberation Army Guangdong–Jiangxi Border Detachment.

The Baizhukeng meeting on the west bank marked the most significant gathering since the resumption of armed struggle in the Ninth Guerrilla Area. This meeting clarified the situation, defined the tasks of the struggle, formulated correct military strategies and policies, and pointed the way forward for the development of guerrilla warfare and the consolidation and expansion of the base areas. It served as a turning point in the development of the people’s guerrilla warfare in the Ninth Guerrilla Area, laying the ideological, political, military, and organizational foundation for reversing the war situation across the region and consolidating and developing the base areas.

This house was the home of underground CCP member Wang Kexin. Built in 1947, it is a two-courtyard (seven-up-seven-down) structure facing west. After the expanded meeting of the Ninth Guerrilla Area Committee of the Communist Party of China concluded in June 1948, the house was burned down by the Kuomintang on the 14th day of the eighth lunar month of the same year.
