Nangong Village is located in the southwestern suburbs of Beijing, under the jurisdiction of Wangzuo Town, Fengtai District, covering an area of 4.5 square kilometers. The village has a total of 810 households and a population of 3,000. In recent years, taking advantage of the construction of Wangzuo Central Town, Nangong Village has made the development of a circular economy a key task in building a new socialist countryside. With the development philosophy of “planning a small city from a high starting point, constructing it with high quality, managing it to high standards, and operating it for high efficiency,” and with the strategic goal of building an “international, garden-style tourism small city,” the village has achieved outstanding results. Currently, Nangong Village is home to 23 collectively owned village enterprises, with fixed assets totaling 1 billion yuan, making it recognized as Beijing’s “Suburban Secondary and Tertiary Industry Specialized Village for Second Venture Initiatives” and a “Suburban Economic Restructuring Specialized Village.”

Over the past few years, the village has undertaken construction projects totaling over 350,000 square meters, seizing the opportunity for economic development in the Beijing suburbs and laying a solid foundation for achieving full rural urbanization and leading the region in basically realizing modernization. In March 2003, the first phase of the 50,000-square-meter Nangongyuan Eco-Residential Area broke ground, officially marking the beginning of the construction of Wangzuo Small Town. The village’s cadres and workers braved severe cold and scorching heat, overcame various adverse factors, and completed key projects such as the Hot Spring Water World, the first phase of real estate development, the renovation of the old village, and the construction of the heating network on schedule. The “New Beijing, New Image, New Feelings, One-Day Tour of Beijing” event, jointly organized by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Tourism, Beijing Television Station, and Beijing Evening News, held its launch ceremony in the village for two consecutive years. The Nangong One-Day Tour has become one of Beijing’s top ten tourist routes. The village has successfully hosted three editions of the Nangong Geothermal Science Tourism Festival, launching distinctive tourism events with clear themes such as “Geothermal Science Tours,” “Hot Spring Wellness Tours,” and “Suburban Ecotourism.” The village’s uniquely themed tourism offerings—including agricultural sightseeing, conference and leisure activities, entertainment and dining, fitness and wellness, and trendy shopping—have attracted a large number of visitors from surrounding areas and even abroad. The cumulative number of visitors has reached 500,000. In 2004, the village was named a National Agricultural Tourism Demonstration Site.
