The 2013 Beijing International Triathlon will be held from September 19–21, 2013 (with the race day on September 21) in Fengtai District, Beijing. The event follows an Olympic distance format, consisting of a 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike ride, and 10 km run. The 1.5 km swim course will be set in the picturesque Qinglong Lake, while the highly challenging 40 km cycling route will start at Fengtai Qinglong Lake Park, proceed through urban roads and mountainous switchbacks to the foot of Qianling Mountain, then return to the park. The final 10 km run will traverse the unique trails within Fengtai Qinglong Lake Park. The race weekend coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival long weekend, and the event has prepared a variety of activities and hospitality for athletes and their guests, including a welcome dinner on Thursday, a pre-race energy meal, a course preview, a post-race celebration party, as well as exhibitions by sponsors and fitness product vendors.

The Beijing International Triathlon is the only Asian qualifier for the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. The top 50 finishers will earn a spot in the 2014 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, to be held in San Francisco, USA.
