Nangong World Geothermal Expo Park
Nangong World Geothermal Expo Park is located in Nangong Village, Wangzuo Town, Fengtai District, covering an area of 800 acres. Major attractions include: the Geothermal Science Exhibition Center, the Hot Spring Special Aquaculture Center, the Hot Spring Fishing Center, and the Hot Spring Planting & Picking Base. The next phase plans to utilize the beautiful natural environment of Nangong Garden to build a geothermal mineral therapy center.
In cooperation with the Beijing Institute of Geological Engineering Exploration, Nangong Village successfully developed high-quality geothermal hot spring water in October 2000. The hot spring well reaches a depth of 2,980 meters, with a daily output of 2,700 tons, a water temperature of 72°C, and is rich in various minerals and trace elements beneficial to human health. The Expo Park hired relevant experts to design meticulously, using computer control and management to achieve “first-time development, stepwise utilization” of the geothermal hot spring water. First, the high-temperature water is used for winter heating; the purified medium-temperature water is used for hotels, entertainment venues, the hot spring water world, as well as for villagers’ health, swimming, and bathing; the low-temperature water is further treated for special aquaculture and fishing; and finally, the coolest water is used for irrigation in the agricultural park. Reviewed and appraised by national geothermal experts from the relevant geological and mining departments, “Nangong’s comprehensive utilization of geothermal energy has reached world advanced levels,” earning Nangong the reputation of being China’s “No. 1 Geothermal Village.”
The Geothermal Science Exhibition Center has a construction area of 3,000 m². Its first floor houses a geothermal water treatment workshop and a green agricultural and sideline products supermarket. The second floor makes full use of modern sound, light, and electricity technologies to display the applications of medium- and low-temperature geothermal energy both domestically and globally, aiming to popularize geothermal knowledge among primary and secondary school students and the general public. At the same time, the second floor also includes a visitor center that integrates rest, video recording, medical care, communication, and other comprehensive functions.
The Hot Spring Special Aquaculture Center has a construction area of 5,000 m², featuring four indoor and two outdoor hot spring breeding workshops, mainly engaged in the breeding of fry and adult fish of rare, special, high-quality, and new aquatic products, as well as tropical ornamental fish.
The Hot Spring Fishing Center has a construction area of 12,000 m². The first floor includes five regular fishing ponds, two premium fishing ponds, as well as one rare touch-fishing pond and one spear-fishing pond seldom seen in China, plus a goldfish fishing pond designed for children. The presence of VIP and regular resting areas, along with dining services on the second floor, greatly facilitates fishing enthusiasts and sightseeing visitors.
The Hot Spring Planting & Picking Base covers an area of 350 acres, primarily focused on growing specialty vegetables and flowers, as well as offering the picking of a variety of seasonal fruits, exuding a rich rural charm. The establishment of a 20,000 m² smart greenhouse has enriched the overall functionality of the base.
