Twin Peaks Mountain

The Twin Peaks Mountain Provincial Forest Park is located 12 kilometers west of the county town, at an altitude of 668 meters. It gets its name from the two peaks on the mountaintop that resemble the ancient hairstyle of women. It is a provincial-level forest park. A cement tourist road leads directly to the summit. The area features towering peaks, bamboo forests with secluded paths, banana groves and pine winds, clear springs, and numerous naturally formed rock caves. One of the stone chambers can accommodate a hundred people; another cave stretches for a kilometer, allowing visitors to walk upright from the entrance to the exit. There is also a “Resounding Drum Rock,” where stepping on the “drum surface” causes the huge rock to shake—known as “Drumming on the High Mountain.” The large rocks at the summit feature cliff inscriptions.

[Panhu Nunnery]

Panhu Nunnery is located on the right side of the mountain. Originally built during the Tang Dynasty and reconstructed in 1666, it is one of the oldest temples in Dabu County, often referred to as “First Panhu, Second Chijue.”

[Xihua Temple]

Xihua Temple is situated on the mountainside of Twin Peaks Mountain, in the village of Shuangji. Facing south and backed by the north, it was first built in the 17th year of the Shunzhi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1660). The temple has an earth-and-wood structure, with a main hall and side rooms topped with flush gables, covering a construction area of about 99 square meters. Inside the temple is an ancient bell from the Ming Dynasty. Towering pines and lush bamboos grow around the temple, and clear springs flow nearby. The large rocks in front of the temple also bear inscriptions by many scholars and poets. For example, the entrance rock is engraved with the three large characters “Da’e Spring.”

[Forest Recreation Area]

The Forest Recreation Area is located at the foot of the green hills on the mountainside. It is filled with ancient trees, murmuring streams, and scattered peculiar rocks. In the summer, entering this area offers a refreshing coolness, fresh air, fragrant flowers, and birdsong, making it a veritable earthly paradise. By the stream lies a massive rock nearly 30 square meters in size lying on the water’s surface, resembling a stone turtle silently guarding this beautiful home.

[Thousand-Step Cloud Ladder]

The Thousand-Step Cloud Ladder is located beside the road on the mountainside of Twin Peaks Mountain. It was built along the natural slope of the mountain, consisting of 366 steps and 26 turns, all made of strip-shaped stone steps. Hidden within lush woods, the path includes six scenic spots such as the “Viewing Small Pavilion” with a stone inscription by Tian Jiabing, “Secluded Forest Beauty,” “Stone Terrace View,” “East Wind Pavilion,” and others.

[Dabu TV Transmission Tower]

The Dabu TV transmission tower is located at the summit. It was constructed in October 1980 with a million-yuan investment by the renowned Hong Kong-based hometown benefactor Tian Jiabing and the Dabu County Party Committee and County Government. Covering an area of 3,000 square meters, the tower stands over 60 meters high. In 1995, this TV transmission tower was designated as a “Patriotic Education Base” of Dabu County. From the summit, you can enjoy a close-up view of the entire county town, gaze into the distance at the peaks of Xiyen, Yinna, and Maoshan, with undulating mountain ranges and the scenery of the Han River all in sight. Historically known as “Twin Peaks Brushing the Clouds,” it is considered the foremost of the Eight Scenic Spots of the county town.
