Tomb of Weng Wanda

The Tomb of Weng Wanda is a cultural relic protection unit of Dabu County.

The Tomb of Weng Wanda is located at the foot of Fengxiang Mountain in Sanhe Town, Dabu County. It faces east and has a trapezoidal shape, covering an area of 2,400 square meters, measuring 16.25 meters in length and 11.1 meters in width. It is constructed of cement, lime, and sand. The granite tombstone is 1.6 meters high and 0.78 meters wide, with the inscription: “Tomb of Weng Gong from Dongya, a native of the Eastern Bank, Jinshi-degree holder bestowed by the Ming, Senior Political Advisor, Minister of War, posthumously awarded the titles of Minor Protector of the Crown Prince, Xiangmin (Posthumous Honor), and revered as both an Honored Official and Local Sage.” A rectangular epitaph stone is placed beneath the base of the tomb. In front of the tomb stand tall stone statues including human figures, horses, sheep, and leopards. The tomb was once damaged but was restored in 1985. A display room has been built on the left side of the tomb.

Weng Wanda (1496–1551), courtesy name Renfu, style name Dongya, was a native of Jiedeng Village, Jieyang (now part of the suburbs of Shantou). He became a Jinshi (imperial examination graduate) in the fifth year of the Jiajing reign during the Ming Dynasty and successively served as Sichuan Censorate Judge, Shaanxi Provincial Administration Commissioner, and Minister of War.

In 1985, the Dabu County People's Government designated it as a cultural relic protection unit.

Sanhe Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Dabu County. It got its name because it is located at the confluence of the Ting River, Mei River, and Meitan River, which then flow into the Han River. During the Ming Dynasty, the Sanhe Fort was built here. In the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was called Sanhe She, in 1949 it was named Sanhe District, in 1958 the Sanhe Commune was established, in 1978 the Zili Commune was split off, in 1983 it was re-designated as a district with the Zili Commune merged into it, and in 1986 it was officially established as a town. It is located in the central-western part of the county, 14 kilometers from the county seat. The town covers an area of 150.2 square kilometers and has a population of 20,000. Historically, it was a key transportation hub between Guangdong and Fujian. Today, it is traversed by provincial highways and the Mei River, Ting River, and Han River are navigable.
