Former Site of the South China Branch of the Communist Party of China

The former site of the South China Branch of the Communist Party of China is located at Jinshou Building in Datangbeiback, Taolin, Qingxi Township, Dabu. Built during the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty, it features a traditional quadrangle layout and is a two-story building with a total floor area of over 500 square meters. In July 1949, when the Nationalist Hu Lian Corps was retreating in defeat from Fujian and Guangdong toward the south, they invaded the Xingmei region. The Secretary of the South China Branch of the CPC, Fang Fang, along with leaders such as Wei Jinshui of the Fujian-Guangdong-Jiangxi Border Region Committee, entered Taolin Datangbeiback, Dabu, accompanied by the Meizhou Prefectural Committee, and set up base at Jinshou Building. On July 6 and 15, they issued urgent directives to all prefectural committees and divisional headquarters, calling for the protection of summer harvests, the defense of hometowns, the eradication of fleeing bandits from the south, and the interception of the Hu Lian gang. During this period, the Party committees of the South China Branch, Guangdong Province, the Border Region, Meizhou Prefecture, and Dabu County, along with the forces of the Border Column, used Jinshou Building as their command center—effectively housing five levels of Party leadership under one roof.
