Yanqing Hall

Yanqing Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province.

The Yang Family Ancestral Temple — Yanqing Hall, located in Hounan Village, Baihao Town, was first built during the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of over 600 years. It is the birthplace of the Baihao Yang family and also the site associated with the Second Patriarch of the Pure Land School. Facing south and situated to the north, Yanqing Hall covers an area of 3,672 square meters. Within the Baihao clan system, it includes the construction of a new ancestral hall, renovation of ancestral tombs, establishment of clan regulations, compilation of genealogies, and the establishment of clan industries. Among these, the clan industries specifically include a study pavilion dedicated to rewarding success in the imperial examinations — a distinctive feature of the Yang clan's industrial endeavors. This served as the economic foundation for the institutionalization of the Yang family’s imperial examination pursuits and laid a solid financial groundwork for their academic flourishing.

In 2012, it was announced by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province as part of the seventh batch of cultural relic protection units in Guangdong.

Hounan Village: Located in the southern part of Baihao Town, Dabu County, Meizhou City, Hounan Village administers 63 villager groups, with 1,534 registered households and a population of 5,415. The total area of the village is 13.9 square kilometers, including 2,261 acres of arable land. The average annual temperature is 21°C, with an annual precipitation of about 1,552.3 mm, characterized by a subtropical monsoon climate. Major cash crops include rice and flue-cured tobacco, with flue-cured tobacco being the village’s featured economic product. The total rural economic income of the village in the previous year was 59.62 million yuan.
