African Museum

The African Museum is situated in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was originally called the "Africana Museum". In 1994, following the end of South Africa’s apartheid policy, it was officially renamed MuseuM AfricA. In 1933, the Johannesburg Public Library acquired a significant collection of African cultural artifacts and books from John Gaspard Gubbins, which led to the establishment of the African Museum.

The African Museum is an outstanding exhibition hall dedicated to introducing African ethnic groups. It displays a wide range of tools, equipment, dwellings, artisan crafts, as well as replicas of clothing and toys that were once used by South Africans, tribes, and other regions across Africa. These exhibits reflect the life and cultural characteristics of the African continent, allowing visitors to gain an in-depth understanding of the history of Africa through various periods. The museum holds high value for visitors. Additionally, focusing on the themes of poverty and AIDS in Africa, the museum also showcases numerous images related to these issues, aiming to serve an educational and awareness-raising purpose.
