While temperate regions in the Northern Hemisphere step into autumn with leaves turning red and yellow, countries in the Southern Hemisphere are embracing spring. In Sydney’s Kirribilli neighborhood, a row of jacaranda (Jacaranda) trees along McDougall Street have recently blossomed, attracting crowds of locals eager to take photos and becoming a hot topic in the area.

Despite its name meaning "blue jacaranda," the flowers are actually more of a purple-blue or pale lilac hue. The blooms cover the entire canopy, often hanging in long clusters from the branches with sparse leaves, creating a particularly stunning visual effect. The jacarandas planted along McDougall Street are not only neatly aligned but also quite tall, enhancing the "flower tunnel" effect and adding to their charm.

The short stretch of McDougall Street features a small park, Milson Park, with the rest mostly residential. As you can imagine, the street isn’t very wide. When large crowds of flower admirers flock in, the area becomes noisy and congested, drawing complaints from residents. However, some note that the jacaranda blooming period is quite short—only about a month—so the crowds are expected to dwindle soon.

In fact, besides Sydney, jacaranda trees are common in many cities and are even the floral emblem of Brisbane, Australia. They can also be found in Hong Kong, such as in Victoria Park (near the Royal Plaza entrance), Sha Tin Central Park (North Garden), and the University of Hong Kong campus (beside the lotus pond in front of the Run Run Shaw Building). However, keep in mind that the blooming season in Hong Kong is from March to May.
