Relive the glory of the Habsburgs: A musical feast at Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace

 

Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace (SchoenbrunnPalace) was once a symbol of the Habsburg dynasty’s splendor and is also known as the “Summer Palace.” The current structure reflects the modifications made during the 18th century under Empress Maria Theresa, who used it as her summer residence.

As early as the Habsburg era, the Baroque-style Orangery Hall of Schönbrunn Palace was a venue for celebratory events, and numerous musical performances were highly popular. The most famous of these was the musical competition between Mozart and Salieri.

Schönbrunn Palace boasts 1,441 rooms and a grand court garden that also houses a zoo and greenhouses. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, unlike most European palaces where only the interiors are open to the public, this magnificent palace offers unique experiences including dinner, concerts, and guided tours. Among these, the tradition of continuing musical performances in the Orangery Hall is especially noteworthy.
