Johannesburg, often abbreviated as "Joburg," is located in the northeastern part of South Africa along the upper reaches of the Vaal River. It is the largest city and economic hub of South Africa, as well as the world’s largest gold-producing center. The city is a metropolis built on gold mining and is widely known as the "City of Gold."

Johannesburg is often regarded as the economic powerhouse of Africa and is one of the most modern and prosperous cities on the continent. Johannesburg also offers visitors opportunities to observe a variety of wildlife. The Johannesburg Zoo is the largest zoo in South Africa, and there are also other wildlife reserves such as the Lion Park Sanctuary, the Krugersdorp Game Reserve, and the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve.
