This is a World Heritage Site located near Johannesburg, showcasing traces of early human activity. In the early 20th century, fossils of early humans and animals that later evolved into humans (dating back millions of years) were discovered in the limestone caves of Sterkfontein in this region. The Cradle of Humankind has been rated as the best-preserved World Heritage Site. The area has maintained its natural form with minimal development.
