Mljet Island is the southernmost island among the Adriatic Islands belonging to Croatia, covering an area of 98.01 square kilometers, with 84% of its land covered by forests.

Prior to 1960, Mljet Island was known as the "Honey Island" by the ancient Greeks. It is one of the most charming islands in the Adriatic Sea, featuring a Mediterranean climate with an average January temperature of 9°C and an average July temperature of 24°C, making the weather very pleasant. According to the 2001 census, Mljet Island had a population of 1,111, with Croatians accounting for 97.93% of the total. Some parts of Mljet Island are below sea level, and during the rainy season, these low-lying areas become known as the "lakes region." Serene and picturesque, along with the surrounding dense forests, this area serves as an ideal habitat for various species of birds and other wildlife.
