Croatia, a Hidden Gem for Luxury Getaways

 

In summer, nothing beats the luxury of soaking in cool river water. Before you, a waterfall cascades down in a thunderous rush, silver curtains of water layering and crashing into misty spray. The air is thick with moisture as children’s laughter rings out nearby — a return to nature, as if you’ve stepped into a paradise. The Skradinski Buk waterfall stretches 800 meters, featuring 17 steps and a total drop of 46 meters. The spectacular ensemble of these 17 waterfalls forms a natural aquatic playground. The surrounding lake area of Skradinski Buk in Krka National Park is open for swimming and splashing about. People swim or enjoy spa treatments under the falls, creating a lively and joyous atmosphere. With the roaring water, chirping insects, and birdsong all around, it feels like a hidden utopia.

Established in 1985, Krka National Park spans 142 square kilometers, primarily to protect the middle and lower reaches of the Krka River. The Krka River, which is 72.5 kilometers long, has carved through limestone terrain to form a canyon with drops of up to 200 meters. Dissolved calcium carbonate, along with algae and moss, accumulates over time to form travertine terraces. As water flows over these terraces of varying heights, beautiful waterfalls are created.

 

Beyond its natural beauty, Visovac Lake is home to a romantic island with a 14th-century monastery that survived Ottoman rule until 1699. It shines like a radiant jewel in the turquoise waters, waiting for travelers to explore.

 

Sailing is one of the favorite ways to travel for Europeans and Americans. In the first stage of the course, you’ll learn essential knots and receive theoretical instruction, while in the second stage, classroom time focuses on navigation and weather topics. Evenings are spent discussing daily experiences. Practical sessions follow, often ending with dinner in a nearby coastal town — usually a casual meal in a local eatery, not a café. Meals are not included. There will also be theoretical classes covering navigation and meteorology, along with discussions on issues encountered during practical operations.
