The Zagreb Archaeological Museum's collection boasts up to 450,000 items, accumulated over the years through various channels. It is the most extensive archaeological museum collection in Croatia, telling the story of the country from ancient times to the present. Most of the items come from Croatia itself and are divided into collections based on their respective eras, including prehistoric, Greek and Roman, and medieval periods. Each section contains top-tier artifacts of significant archaeological and historical value. The museum also holds a collection of Egyptian artifacts — the only one in Zagreb — as well as Europe’s largest numismatic collection, which is truly astonishing.

The museum’s most famous artifact is the Liber Linteus, the only book in the world made of linen fabric, which recounts the history of the Etruscans.
